No, you do not need to have your app open at the toll booth or while driving for Ecotoll to properly work.
Don’t worry if you forget to bring your phone, you can still use the toll road/bridge without stopping at the toll booth. As long as your car is registered under your account with a status of 'Active', we will charge the tolls to your account accordingly.
We partner with tolling agencies to charge your account based on license plate readings (toll-by-plate) as you pass through a toll booth.
